About Physio 4 Health in Motueka
Physio 4 Health is an accredited Physiotherapy Practice in Motueka. We have spacious rooms, lots of off street parking and a huge amount of enthusiasm for our profession and helping the people of Motueka recover from injuries, major and minor.
Accredited means we have passed stringent quality standards set out by New Zealand Health Standards, which gives us a sound basis for practicing our profession and running our business. It also means you can have confidence in the quality of our treatments, that our premises are safe and user friendly for anyone of any age, and that our business practices are fair and transparent. We are the only practice in Motueka to have this status.
Our Physios in Motueka
Our physiotherapists Mary, Liz and Jess are well experienced and maintain their skills and widen their knowledge base by regularly attending post-graduate seminars and courses, and reading the enormous amount of literature that is applicable to our profession.
As a group we are convinced that activity and exercise are essential to the maintenance of good health and well-being. To this end we have sponsored one of the new Mountain Bike tracks at Kaiteriteri. So next time you are freewheeling down Shady Lady try not to fall off and remember that Physio 4 Health have helped you enjoy your ride.
Mary and Liz have been Physios for a long time. Together they have worked in many different countries, practicing in many different areas of Physiotherapy. It has all come together for them here, in Motueka, and with their families, they are settled in the area and excited by their new practice. Jess who is our newest physiotherapist has brought her enthusiasm and expertise to the practice two years ago and has already established herself as a valuable member of the practice.
History of the Practice in 25 Greenwood St, Motueka
In late 2008, they saw an oppportunity to practice Physiotherapy the way they wanted. They envisaged a clinic where patient-centred care is the norm, where assessments and treatments are based on accepted, research-based international best-practice; where a range of treatment options would be available to tailor to individual need.
So, in February 2009, the doors to Physio 4 Health opened at 25 Greenwood Street. The former medical centre was easily adapted to fit the different demands of a physio practice. Walls were filled in to create an extra consulting room, carpet was laid for soft landings in the exercise room, paint flowed and the signs were erected. In preparation for opening Mary, Kay and Liz undertook the quality activities required for accreditation to the New Zealand Health and Safety standards. To do this required hours of painstaking (and teeth gnawing!) documentation to ensure that our systems and paperwork were to the high standard required. We achieved this two months prior to opening.
Accreditation was a critical milestone in our path to being awarded ACC contracts for treatment, Rehabilitation, Staying at Work and Chronic Pain Rehabilitation. It has been a busy time for us over the last 18 months adapting to changes in ACC and we have managed this well and have been awarded two new ACC contracts this year.
We have been fortunate to have been able to entice other health professionals to join us in Greenwood St. We also offer a Massage Therapy practice and Dorothea Tebbenhof runs her Acupuncture Practice from our premises. This enables us to utilise a multi-discplinary approach so we can work closely with patients to ensure they have the treatment they need.
We have now grown to include another massage therapist, Ellen Appleton and Yvette Aberson, massage and cranial sacral therapist.
